Eight esteemed faculty members, Colegio de Kidapawan President Ma’am Janice Marie R. Mearns-Martinez, and Vice President for Finance Ma’am Sheila Marie Mearns, along with ten fourth-year Criminology students, proudly participated in Kawayanihan: A Circular Economy Movement.
Held in Carmen, North Cotabato, on October 18, 2024, the event marked a Mindanao-wide attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most people planting bamboo simultaneously. The initiative highlighted bamboo’s crucial role as a cost-effective and environmentally beneficial plant.
Rooted in SDG 13: Climate Action, the bamboo-planting activity contributes to efforts that help mitigate climate change by supporting carbon absorption and promoting sustainable environmental practices. It also advances SDG 15: Life on Land by encouraging the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of land-based ecosystems. Through the collective participation of schools, communities, and local partners, the initiative further embodies SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, showing how unified action can create meaningful and lasting environmental impact.
Colegio de Kidapawan’s involvement reflects its continuing commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and sustainable development.
