Special Non-Working Holiday
Under Proclamation No. 1006, August 21 is observed annually as Ninoy Aquino Day in commemoration of the death anniversary of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino Jr. It is declared a national non-working holiday pursuant to Republic Act No. 9256 and is included among the special non-working days for 2026.

MAULID-UN-NABI
Legal Muslim Holiday
In a memorandum issued by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos — Region 9, August 26, 2026 is observed as Maulid-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). The observance is pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 1083, otherwise known as the Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines, and applies to the provinces and cities specified under the law such as Basilan, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sulu, Tawi‑Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga del Sur, and in the cities of Cotabato, Iligan, Marawi, Pagadian, and Zamboanga City.

NATIONAL HEROES DAY
Regular Holiday
National Heroes Day is observed every last Monday of August to honor the country’s national heroes and recognize their contributions to the nation. In 2026, it falls on August 31 and is designated as a regular holiday pursuant to Proclamation No. 1006.

NORTH COTABATO FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY
Special Working Holiday and No-Class Day in Schools
September 1 is observed in the Province of North Cotabato in commemoration of its founding anniversary. Republic Act No. 10777 declares September 1 of every year as a special working holiday and a no-class day in schools in the Province of North Cotabato.

Ninoy Aquino Day falls on a Friday, providing a three-day weekend.
• August 29–31, 2026 (Saturday–Monday)
National Heroes Day falls on Monday, providing another three-day weekend.
• September 1, 2026 (Tuesday)
North Cotabato’s founding anniversary follows the National Heroes Day long weekend and is a no-class day in schools within the province.
The Colegio de Kidapawan community is encouraged to take note of these dates and make the necessary arrangements accordingly.
This supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, by promoting access to timely and reliable institutional information and strengthening civic awareness; SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, by recognizing and preserving national, provincial, and cultural heritage through the observance of significant commemorative occasions; and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, by acknowledging and respecting diverse cultural and religious traditions, including the observance of Maulid-un-Nabi.
