CdK Keeps the Kalivungan Festival Tradition Going

KALIVUNGAN'26

In celebration of Cotabato Province’s 112th founding anniversary, the Colegio de Kidapawan (CdK) community keeps its yearly tradition of supporting the provincial government’s “Serbisyong Totoo” initiative to highlight heritage, culture, and sustainable development by paying it a visit and taking pride on the beauty and bounty the province has to offer.

Led by its President, deans, and staff, CdK visited the Provincial Capitol on Day 2 of the annual Kalivungan Festival. The institutional visit underscored Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting how cross-sector collaboration drives local progress.

A major highlight of the visit was the Yaman ng Cotabato cultural showcase. Municipalities—including Kidapawan City—alongside local enterprise booths, displayed an array of agricultural produce, regional delicacies, and intricate textiles. The diverse colors of the woven crafts reflected the harmonious co-existence of Cotabato’s Tri-People. This celebration aligns with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by preserving cultural identity and promoting inclusive community participation.

The CdK delegation began their tour at the Museyo Kutawato, taking in artworks by local artists and viewing a documentary on the province’s rich history. They then explored the trade fair, sampling local delicacies and fresh produce, including Cotabato’s famous durian. During the tour, the delegation also met with Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza, reinforcing institutional bonds in support of SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

They also enjoyed a sumptuous dinner featuring an array of grilled chicken, pork, and fresh seafood barbecue. The delegation ended the day thoroughly full and satisfied as they headed home.
