Painting Memory, Celebrating Culture: CDK Students Take Part in Cotabato Visual Art Congress 2026

Colegio de Kidapawan, Inc., together with students and young artists from Department of Education Region XII (DepEd 12) schools, joined 289 young artists from various schools across the Province of Cotabato for the Visual Arts Congress on October 28, 2026. The initiative, organized by the Provincial Government of Cotabato under Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza through MuseyoKutawato, provided a meaningful platform for young artists to develop their craft, connect with fellow creatives, and celebrate Cotabato’s cultural heritage.

Held at 10:00 AM within the scenic grounds of Pamuwannan Gardens, MuseyoKutawato, the congress featured an Artist Talk on Art, Memory, and Cultural Expression, an Open Forum and Interactive Session with Artists, an Orientation on the Art Contest, and the much-anticipated Visual Art Contest. The contest centered on the theme, “Ghost of the Past: Art, Memory, and Stories from Cotabato,” inviting participants to explore local history, memory, and identity through visual expression.

In her message, Board Member Ivy Dalumpines-Ballitoc, representing Governor Taliño-Mendoza, encouraged the participants to use their talents as a means of creative self-expression. The activity created a space for young artists not only to showcase their skills but also to strengthen their networks, express their creativity, and experience the spirit and culture of being Cotabateño.

Colegio de Kidapawan extends its deepest gratitude to the Provincial Government of Cotabato, led by Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza, for extending this invaluable invitation. Opportunities such as this empower young creators to hone their crafts, celebrate local heritage, and showcase the immense artistic potential thriving among the youth of Cotabato.
